My Story
Jenni Someillan PT,DPT, CAPJenni is a licensed physical therapist and ayurvedic practitioner with over 25 years of experience offering patients an integrated whole-body approach to healing. She completed her BS in Physical Therapy in 1999 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy Degree in 2018. Jenni was drawn to study the body, its relation to nature and natural healing modalities as a teenager. As her love for healthy living grew she studied and practiced ayurvedic therapies from her early 20s and then formally received her ayurvedic practitioner certification from The Ayurvedic Institute in 2010 where she had the unique experience of studying for 2 years directly under the world-renown Dr. Lad (a western medicine MD and pioneering ayurvedic physician who brought ayurveda to the US).
This knowledge and experience allow Jenni to view the body's state of health through a unique lens. When her patients present with physical ailments, she not only observes and palpates for physical imbalances but can use her integrative approach to distinguish other bodily systems that are out of balance which may contribute to symptoms. Once the root imbalance is determined, she draws from her knowledge of ayurvedic therapies, osteopathic manual techniques and therapeutic exercises to facilitate balance and a more healthy state of being. On a personal note, Jenni has used her ayurvedic knowledge and tools to resolve a chronic skin rash which did not respond to Stanford dermatology treatments AND her schroth method skills to resolve unrelenting pain from scoliosis. Jenni's recovery makes her passionate about helping others find balance and abundant health. See Scoliosis Solutions for more about Jenni's scoliosis specialty and personal story. Her educational background includes unique mentoring programs with Kaiser Physical Therapy Residency Program and clinical education associated with UCSF at San Francisco General Hospital. Jenni has continued to enhance her skills as an orthopedic PT through advanced manual therapy courses, master level foot/ankle rehabilitation trainings and scoliosis rehabilitation trainings. Jenni completed her scoliosis training directly under Dr. Rigo (developer of the Rigo System Cheneau Brace, one of the founders of SOSORT, world-renowned scoliosis expert and founder of the Barcelona Scoliosis Physiotherapy School). Jenni worked at Stanford Children's Hospital for a period of time with a sole intent to help over 300 adolescents with scoliosis prevent curve progression and sometimes surgery. |
